To touch can be to give light. ~ Michelangelo
Who this is for? 200-hour and 500-hour teachers who want to explore the art of hands-on assists within the scope of a yoga class /or experienced yoga practitioners who want to explore touch in the context of a yoga practice.
What can I expect? Hands-on touch is a integral part of our practice as yoga teachers but should be done in a way that is within our scope, consent-based, and trauma-aware. This workshop will provide an extensive exploration of touching bodies in a yoga class. We will dedicate 20 hours to discuss and practice the hands-on teaching skills that many have missed or felt lacking during their yoga training.
Physical hands on assists can bring embodied awareness, stability, comfort, connection, and a deep and healing experience of being held in a way that verbal cues can not. Touch can be a powerful tool in our yoga teaching skills.
You will learn: To give trauma aware and consent-based hands on assists To regulate your breath and nervous system while offering touch To attune to your student’s body, nervous system and breath when you touch To create stable and grounded foundation from which to touch others To convey movements of Prana with your touch To support sound alignment with your touch Hands on assists that help your students grow in the pose To support self-autonomy in your students Hands on principles that help students feel good and safe
This workshop is available for 20 Yoga Alliance CEUS and counts as an elective in the PYA 300 hour training.
