About the event
Yin poses are held seated or lying down for several minutes at a time with minimal to no muscular engagement. Each pose is followed by a minute of integrative rest. By creating deliberate stresses on the yin tissues they becoming stronger and more supple. This approach, practiced intelligently, has the potential to slowly unravel long held patterns in the body and restore optimal health and balance movement in the joints.
Yin Yoga is very different than “restorative” or “gentle” yoga. The poses ask us to come to an appropriate edge of sensation and remain still for a period of time. This requires a willingness to not only be still with what is, but to explore our bodies and with them our held emotional experiences. For this reason, Yin Yoga is a also a true wonder for moving energy, and releasing tension, stored emotions and trauma. Conscious practice of Yin Yoga can lead to deep somatic and emotional healing and prepare one for deeper states of meditation.
